A while back my buddy Ray bought these hooks upon the advice from a fly shop. He gave me a
few and we tied up some different midge patterns. They all worked like a charm. This is one of
the best. I believe the key is the red hook. This fly is super easy to tie, and an excellent
producer. It’s also small enough to use as a dropper behind a dry fly. I also fish it behind
nymphs. If you don’t have any midge patterns in your box, sure you have this one. I know some
of you out there don’t fish or tie small flies, but this is a really really simple pattern and easy to
fish. The key to tying it is to sparsely dub your thread.
If you have any questions about this fly or would like to submit a pattern of the month I can be
reached at 203 734-7879 or e-mail me at pdinice@snet.net.
