The Moby Dick
The following fly of the month and river review was written by Tom Klimovich, an H.F.F.A. member who
passed away recently. It was submitted as a tribute to Tom by his friend Bob Nikituk.

FLY OF THE MONTH

The Moby Dick

Thread - Black or  olive

Hook size - #2xl or #3xl  #8 to #12

Tail - Golden pheasant tippits, tied sparse.

Body - 2 or 3 strands of peacock herl tied together to form body.

Rib - Five gold or copper wire reverse wrapped through entire body.

Over rib - Dark ginger hackle feather palmered length of body.

Wing - Lemon wood duck flank feather tied flat over body and hackle.

" I fish this fly as a streamer, nymph, stone-fly, and unweighted greased and dragged over the surface of
pools just before dark. This method sometimes brings vicious strikes by enormous fish. Every fly-box
should have this fly in it.
